Art of Fusion


Say Owl City
What comes to mind is
Peaceful
Melodic
Soft yet catchy tunes
Songs best heard all alone at night

Say Hip-Hop and Rap
And it's everything opposite of Owl City

What they have in common together?
Virtually nothing
But Owl City's latest hit
Alligator Sky
Combined typical Owl City's tunes with rap
And the outcome
Far from disastrous
Somewhat surprising

This
Is fusion

We live in a world of fusion
Even more
We live in a country of fusion
From the food we eat
To the language we speak
What's more interesting
Rojak
Can be a food
Penang rojak
Can be a language as well
Bahasa rojak

Away from sounding so patriotic
We need fusions in our lives as well
Everyone view and do things differently
Why all those repelling and eliminating?
Sometimes we could look at it in a different way
Try to understand and accept each other's way
If everyone in a group is doing things your way
Would it spell chaos?
We need all sorts of people
Adding and subtracting each others' strengths and weaknesses
This is fusion

Sometimes it don't necessarily be
1 + 1 = 2
It could be
1 + 1 > 2

The Other Side

We are used to a complicated world
At times we make things even more complicated
And we end up cursing
Sometimes we should pause
And look towards simplicity
Delete all complications
Return to basics
And explore the other side
A side that is always there
But often covered up by complications
You might find out a side which you didn't know existed
And you didn't know it could be this way
More importantly
It's a side that is plain and simple

Turn on your speakers
And you will hear what I mean

Double Doze

Double doze of Brazillians
Is what it takes for Chelsea to beat Man City
Right at the moment when we thought that hopes are lost
Not only they did the job
They did it with such flair and brilliance
Constant hard work for long periods but to no avail
Could have put anyone down
But they didn't back down
And got rewarded brilliantly in the end
In this case
Endurance mattered
It made the difference

Wouldn't it be nice if this applies to everything in life?

Under The Moonlight


This is it
The much hyped super moon
That would cause disaster
Well at least I'm still here
Scientifically and mathematically
Yes this is the period when the moon is closest to the earth in years
But to be honest I've seen a much bigger moon
Sometime during mid-autumn
Perhaps it's just psychological
Due to the festival

The moon
The closest thing to us in the entire universe
Often outshone by artificial lights
In the concrete jungle
But when it's on it's own
It's really capable of lighting up the night
The best moon I've ever seen
Was around 10 years ago during my trip to Pulau Perhentian
The beach was dark
With only stray lights from the chalets coming through the trees
It was the brightest moon I've ever seen
Lighting up the beach
While listening to the sound of light waves pampering the beach
We could actually see it hitting the sands
Without any artificial lighting
Thanks to the moon
That night
There were two moons
One in the sky
Another in the sea
Reflection of perfection

Extras Extravaganza

Extras

Hmm
What's the feeling?
Complex feeling

Easy job
No need to memorize scripts
Spend a few hours
Filling up the edges of the picture
If you are lucky
Your face is there for a second
If you are not-so-lucky
You appear as a dark, unfocused figure
Spend a few hours there
And the pay is better than what a sales promoter get in a day
As a bonus
You get to see people whom you usually see on tv
You might even get to take a picture with them
Nice huh?

To be honest
Yes

But at times
Being at the background
Looking at actors while they act
You can't help but feel
"Hey, I want to try acting that part"
"Hey, if I were in his position, I would act this way, not that way"
"Hey, if I get to act his character, I would present that character in another way"
No disrespect to anyone
Sometimes you might even think
"Hey, I might be able to do a better job portraying that character"
But of course
At times you might also go like
"Wow! I could learn his way of portraying a character"

But those thoughts
Remain thoughts
Only to yourself
Sometimes it really does come down to one word
Opportunity

There are a crop of good actors in the country
But the difference is opportunity
There's only a fine line in between
Opportunity comes in two ways
If you're lucky
Or if you fight hard enough for it

But the industry is on the up in this country
Our tv is no longer saturated with Hong Kong and Taiwan dramas
Hopefully this would spell a chance for the current crop of extras in the country

Speaking from the viewpoint of an extra

我的贪吃日记 第二章

我的贪吃日记 第二章:Cendol

大热天
路边摊
如果是马来档
逃不过椰水凉粉
如果是印度档
就是ABC或Cendol

ABC和Cendol
我个人就较喜欢Cendol

Cendol
相信大家都看过吃过吧
所以就不附上照片啦
很普通的一样东西嘛
通街都是
可是要好吃的Cendol
就比想像中难找到
不知道是不是我味蕾的问题啦
我连咸的Cendol都吃过
真的咯
夸张到啊
Cendol的味道要刚刚好的
太甜
当然不行
所以有时要求kurang manis的
可是有时kurang了之后
又变到太淡
由于椰浆的关系
吞了下去之后
嘴里会留下一点酸酸的味道(aftertaste)
所以甜度要拿捏得刚刚好

巴生最出名的Cendol
莫过于Cendol Klang
这间店可是历史悠久的哦
可惜到现在我还没机会去试一试
所以我这里介绍的不是那一家啦

我这里要讲的
是巴生永安镇大路边的小食中心啦
相信这里是所有巴生(至少巴生北区)的居民都有去过的地方吧
这一排档口是出了名的多种小食
Pisang Goreng
薯饼
薄饼
Laksa
炒粿条
猪肠粉
糖水
样样到齐
当然这排档口的第一档就是Cendol档
也有卖ABC和Rojak
这里的Cendol是我吃过算不错了的

讲起Cendol
就不得不提起曾有个朋友跟我说了令我差点对Cendol反胃的废话
他说Cendol里的那些青色条状物
像鼻涕!!!

我的贪吃日记 第一章

别看本人虽然是很瘦小
我可是很爱吃的人哦
食量搞不好比你多很多哦
哎呀再怎么讲你也是不相信的啦

对于买用的穿的
我的确很吝啬
不过对于吃的喝的
我的确舍得花多一些

本人不爱山珍海味大鱼大肉
更不会去大酒家大酒楼
本人爱的
是某某大路边不起眼的小摊子
或是某某地方一排店的角头间
亦或是某某大厦旁的小食中心
这些简单便宜但好吃的小食

所以在这里猜一猜
我最爱的本地旅游胜地是哪里?
应该不会猜错吧
答案是槟城!

反正最近blog都不知道要写什么
自己每天又到处吃
所以打算在这里时不时分享一些吃的跟喝的
而且是华人马来人印度人小食通吃哦
当个山寨版’阿贤‘

我的贪吃日记 第一章:客家面

今天下午到红屋找吃
不是马六甲那个荷兰人的红屋
而是在Klang Parade附近的红屋小食中心

讲到华人小食中心
里面的摊子
总是逃不过这几样
鸡饭
云吞面
炒粿条
面粉粿
伊面
虾面
经济饭
这些统统吃到厌了

突然给我看到卖云吞面的档口也标着’客家面‘
这个比较新鲜
没吃过
所以就叫一盘来试试看是什么东东

其实它的面条和云吞面的没什么两样
但相对配料就简单了许多
鸡肉碎(或猪肉碎)加上葱叶
淋上鸡肉汤汁
就这么简单
比较令我印象深刻的是这碗面的颜色

不说你不知
我确确实实是个干捞王
怎么说?
我爱吃干捞
当一些食物(例:伊面,猪肉粉)有干捞和清汤的选择时
我十有八九都是叫干捞的
而说到干捞
相信很多人(包括我)对它的印象是’黑黑‘的吧
黑黑的
就是因为干捞的酱汁的主要材料是黑酱油
我就是喜欢黑酱油的味道
不过
摆在我面前的客家面
是白白的
没有黑酱油
面条的颜色也是原本的金黄色
不像在干捞面里那些被黑酱汁染得褐褐色的面

说到这里
想起爸爸曾对我说的东西
我爸在Batu Pahat出生长大
在大约十岁时才一家人搬过来巴生
他说爷爷嬷嬷(我不叫婆婆,我叫嬷嬷)起初搬来时
吃不惯外头的面
他们不解为什么巴生的面总是黑黑的
原来’黑黑‘的干捞面是巴生河流域的特色哦
我爸说Batu Pahat的干捞面不是黑黑的
相信是地方文化之别吧
吉隆坡巴生一代的干捞面
就是黑黑的

说回下午吃的客家面
挺不错
但味道偏咸了一点
虽然客家面说不上’濒临绝种‘的食物
但相比起云吞面炒粿条
还是相对少见
印象中我今天也是第一次吃

价格还不错
一盘大的RM4
可是很抱歉没拍到照片放上来
